Our Aims
The aims of the AAF (G) are to promote and foster loch style game angling in the British Army for serving, ex-serving members and their dependants.
To achieve this we normally have three annual meetings, each held over three days available to all members:
- Spring Match – This is our seasons opening fixture and a great opportunity for novice anglers to be introduced to competition angling (April fixture).
- Army Championships, including Inter-Corps Championships (June fixture).
- Autumn Match – Our final Intra-Army event of the season (October fixture).
The standard of our top echelon of anglers is a match for any within the UK and Europe; we regularly have SP members representing the British Army competing at international level.
Membership
Membership of the Federation is divided into 2 categories:
Full Members
All serving ranks of the Regular Army, Army Reserve and those on FTRS terms of service.
Associate Membership
Ex-serving members of the Army, and MOD (A) civilian staff.
Dependants of serving members of the Regular Army.
Associate membership is limited up to a maximum of one third of the total membership. This limitation is to preserve the charitable status of the Federation and to comply with Army Sports Control Board policy. The Federation through our Chairman reserves the right to authorise or decline associate membership. Each application will be looked at individually and associate membership applications will only be open for consideration from 1st Jan – 1st Apr each season.
